snoop and the toad
snoop is fascinated by toads. every summer the toads hop on through snoop's backyard and he greets each one with his signature beagle bark. he follows the toad around barking and pawing at it like a cat until out of reach. no toads are ever harmed in the process unless toads can go deaf from listening to beagle barking.

Woodstock III
Today I came home with a brand new woodstock bird for Snoop. This is technically Woodstock III. The previous two woodstocks have been drug around and chewed on to the point that they lost their chirping abilities. Snoop was in doggie heaven when he heard his new little bird chirp again. Woodstock I is lost in the backyard and Woodstock II is missing in action. Hopefully he can keep better track of Woodstock III.

snoop vs. cat
Snoop had a rough morning. In preparation for a vacation at his grandparents, Snoop had to get his nails trimmed at the vet. A trip to the vet makes Snoop a little jittery any way, but when he has to have his nails trimmed, he freaks. The vet tech brought Snoop out, nails freshly trimmed, and that's when Snoop met the office cat at the vet. Snoop got his ass handed to him by a fat white cat. He took a cat paw to the jaw. There was also some hissing involved. Poor Snoop was scared and couldn't wait to bust out of the vet. When we got home, Snoop got a few special treats to help ease the stress of his hectic morning.

snoop dogg voted top dogg
Our beagle, Snoop Douglas, was voted Top Dog in the Pet Idol Paws for the Cause contest. Top Dog, first place, numero uno! Pet Idol is a fundraiser sponsored by the Star Herald newspaper in Scottsbluff, Neb. Over 50 pet owners submitted a photo of their pet that was then posted to the newspaper's website and then everyone voted for the cutest pet. Twenty votes cost $5 and all voting fees went straight tot he Panhandle Humane Society in Scottsbluff.
I submitted an adorable photo of Snoop tilting his head in wonderment as he listens to his favorite toy bird chirp. The bird is technically a cat toy that chirp, chirp, chirps whenever it moves. We named the bird Woodstock and Snoop carries that stupid bird around everywhere. Because the photo was so cute aunts, grandparents, friends, coworkers and parents showered Snoop with votes. Originally, I was just shooting for a top-12 spot because the top 12 pets are featured in a calendar. But Snoop ended up taking first place with 540 votes; he raised about $135. As if being Pet Idol wasn't enough, he received a $150 Walmart gift card, his picture was in the newspaper and he was featured in May in the 2011 Pet Idol calendar. Snoop will forever be known as Mr. May. In case you couldn't tell, I'm a proud dog mom.
